People

1.How do I request the help of a lawyer?

A / You must enter to our web page, read the terms and conditions very well and fill out the following form with the option of natural person (https://www.xsoftprosoluciones.com/cristalbox/probono/prototipo/casos/registropnpublico) or legal person (https://www.xsoftprosoluciones.com/cristalbox/probono/prototipo/casos/registropjpublico) when necessary.

Within a period of no more than three business days, one of our attorneys will contact you by phone to clarify details about the case and begin the process in the search for a lawyer who voluntarily assumes your case.

2.Which requirements must I meet to access the services of the Foundation?

A / You must belong to strata 1, 2 and exceptionally 3, only if you meet some additional condition of vulnerability such as being a person with a disability, being a senior citizen, belonging to the LGBTI community, children, victims of armed conflict, among others. In addition to the above, the condition of vulnerability must be linked to its legal need.

3.What should I do after filling out the Form?

A / Within a maximum period of three days one of our lawyers will contact you to ask you a series of questions that allow you to present your concern in legal terms, after this call you must wait for a period of 15 days to know if any of the volunteer attorneys assumed the case.

4.What is the approximate time to know if any lawyer took my case?

A / After the brief interview of one of our lawyers to know the details of your case, it will be sent to the volunteer lawyer base for a period of 15 days. If a lawyer assumes the case, he will be able to contact you within 8 days of taking it; otherwise, the Foundation will directly call you to provide other alternatives.

5.Will they charge me something for the lawyer’s help?

A / The legal advice or representation provided by the lawyer is completely free; however, you should keep in mind that expenses such as photocopies, medical exams and similar, must be paid on your own.

6.In which places of the country can you help me?

A / The Foundation has a network of lawyers that support the city of Bogotá and nearby municipalities such as Chía, Soacha, Zipaquira, Mosquera and Madrid. Additionally we have presence in the city of Medellín and nearby municipalities, such as Envigado.

  1. Which are the documents to join the Foundation? A / Letter of intent signed by the legal representative, admission form, ProBono Declaration of the Americas and the logo use authorization.

    A / In the visit made by the Executive Director, the table of contributions approved by the Assembly, consisting of 6 groups, is presented. Depending on the number of lawyers available at the Firm or Company, the annual contribution is made

Independent Lawyers

1.Who is an independent lawyer?

A / The Foundation considers as such a graduate lawyer with a valid professional card, who practices law without being linked to a law firm.

2.Since when am I linked to the Foundation?

A/ It begins once your application is approved by the Board of Directors and the contribution is made in favor of the Foundation.

3.How do I join the Foundation?

A / You must send a letter of intent to the email direccion@probono.org.co; Subsequently, your request will be made known to the Board of Directors, which will proceed to study it

4.Which requirements must I meet to join the Foundation?

A / Be a lawyer with a valid professional card, have a letter of recommendation issued by a member of the Foundation, present a certificate of disciplinary background, make an annual contribution worth a monthly legal minimum wage in force. Subsequently, the corresponding letter of acceptance of pro bono work must be signed.

1.How can I work with the Foundation?

2.Can my students do the internship at the Foundation?

A / Educational institutions can be linked as members of the Foundation or establish a strategic alliance agreement to advance joint projects; For more information send an email to sebastian.chaparro@probono.org.co

3.Can I organize academic events with the Foundation?

A / The dissemination of pro bono culture among lawyers in training is a priority for the Foundation and its members, so we constantly participate in academic events organized by national and foreign educational institutions. If you want the Foundation to participate in your event, write an email to sebastian.chaparro@probono.org.co

Social Organizations

1.Which requirements must my social organization meet to be a probono ally?

2. If my Organization meets the requirements, what steps should I follow to formalize an alliance?

A / You must write an email to anamaria.sanchez@probono.org.co, she is the project director and will give you all the necessary guidance to make an alliance.

3. Which requirements must my organization meet to access legal advice?

A / If the legal entity is a non-profit organization, it must work for the benefit of a vulnerable population, and must demonstrate what type of organization it is and its economic capacity through the following documents:

Certificate of existence and legal representation, issued by the competent authority and valid for no more than 30 days, report of financial statements as of December of the immediately preceding year, payroll file.

Students

1.Can I do my judiciary at the Foundation?

A / No, since being a non-profit and civil society organization, it does not have the legal power to have judiciants.

2.Can I do my legal internship with the ProBono Colombia Foundation?

A / Yes, however, it’s essential that the University has a Practices Agreement with the organization. Therefore, we invite you to contact those responsible for practice in your educational institution who will indicate the admission process.

3.Can I volunteer at the Foundation?

A / To volunteer at the foundation, write to sebastian.chaparro@probono.org.co. Graduated lawyers can only be linked to the Organization through the figure of Independent Lawyer.
